Fire up the machine

Wakey wakey, rise and SMASH!

The morning is the perfect time to start your inner machine. There are a few things that you can do to prepare for a good start and to get yourself going:

Wake up for gym

1. Get organized: The first step to a good morning is getting organized the night before. Make sure you have all of your materials ready the night before you head to the gym, including your workout clothes, water, and snacks. This will help reduce stress and keep you focused on your workout.

2. Wake up early: It’s important to wake up early if you want to make the most of your time at the gym. Try waking up at 5am or earlier to allow enough time for a healthy breakfast and a workout before starting your day.

3. Take care of your body: Make sure you take care of your body before heading to the gym by drinking plenty of water, eating a balanced breakfast, and getting enough sleep. Doing this will help improve your overall fitness level and mood throughout the day.

4. Avoid distractions: Distractions can often lead to poor performance in the gym and make keeping up with your workout difficult. Try to avoid looking at your phone, Facebook, or Instagram before working out. While these social media apps can be useful for keeping up with friends, they can also be a distraction from what you’re really trying to do—workout hard!

5. Don’t go too crazy: If you are working out in the morning, leave some energy for the rest of the day. Keep your workouts condensed and effective.

6. Take care of yourself: Make sure you take regular, high-quality vitamins, and healthy oils and have a high protein intake.

7. Plan ahead: Find a good workout program and stick to it. Consistency is key and having an enjoyable program will help with this. Check out our HyperGrowth 12-week bodybuilding program as an example. It is a high-frequency training program that will bring out the All-Out Machine!

8. Get your body ready for work: A good pre-workout is a great way to get your body and your mind fired up. Opt for a high-quality pre-workout that is not packed full of sugars. Stretching is also a great way to wake the body up and prepare it for the gym.

Make sure your surroundings are conducive to working out. If your gym is crowded or noisy, it may be difficult to focus on your workout. Choose a gym that is quiet and has enough space for you to move around freely. If you find it too quiet, take your own music. Having a good gym playlist on your phone is a great way to awaken the all-out machine in you and get motivated.

Choose the right workout gear. Dressing in the right gear that makes you feel confident is going to help to get you into the 'All-Out Machine' mindset.

Try to find a workout that you enjoy doing and keep at it. If you have decided that you would like to work out at least 5 days a week, make sure you have a split that is optimal for that frequency. This will help you to stay accountable and less likely to skip days.

Make sure that you have a clear goal in mind. If you're just trying to lose weight or gain muscle, make sure that you're tracking your progress and setting attainable goals along the way. If you're looking to improve your fitness level, set tougher goals but also be realistic about how long it will take to achieve them.

Next, find a workout buddy. Working out with someone else can help ease some of the intimidation factors and can also encourage each other to push harder. Share the 'All-Out Machine' mindset with them so that you are on the same page and can train with the same intensity.

A good intra-workout drink with caffeine and creatine can really help you with concentration levels and hydration. If you are starting to feel fatigued, take a minute to rehydrate and get into the 'All-Out Machine' frame of mind.

Intra workout

Preparing for a heavy lift is crucial. You want to get yourself pumped as quickly as possible so that you don't have a chance to overthink it. Look at the weight, visualise the lift, and take 4-5 deep breaths to get oxygen into the blood. Approach the weight and give yourself a 5-8 second window to perform it.

When lifting heavy, don't be afraid to vocalise the strain that you are putting the body through. Grunting or shouting as your push beyond failure when bench pressing or deadlifting can help you to focus your energy on the lift. Don't be afraid of what other gym users think, Be a machine and push out those extra reps.

Finally, journal your workout. Use a free gym tracking app so that you can monitor progress and set yourself goals. Looking back at your last good workout can motivate you because you know what you are capable of.

Be An All-Out Eating Machine

If you want to put on muscle and lose weight, you need to be an Eating Machine. This means taking the fun out of food and realising that it is just fuel. Here's how to do it:

1. Eat breakfast: Start your day with a healthy breakfast that will give you sustained energy all day. Skip the breakfast bar and go for something like oatmeal, eggs, or lean bacon. We are usually at our hungriest in the morning so eating healthy is easy.  Get fueled up and ready for the day.

2. Drink plenty of water: Stay hydrated all day long so that your body can burn fat and calories more effectively. Hyper-hydrate in the morning with as much water s you can drink in one go and aim to drink at least 16 ounces of water per day. This flushes out any toxins and gets transports nutrients around the body.

3. Load up on protein: Protein is essential for building muscle and losing weight. Lean meats, fish and eggs are all great sources. If you struggle to get protein in through food, use a whey protein supplement or vegan whey powder

4. Control your carbs: Too many carbs can sabotage your weight loss goals by making you overweight and leading to diabetes later in life. Stick to around 50 grams of carbohydrates per day max, which should come from fibre-rich whole grains and fruits rather than processed foods.

5. Snack smart: If you're looking for a quick snack that won't ruin your diet, reach for something like fruit instead of a processed snack like chips or candy bars.

 6. Get enough sleep: If you're not getting the recommended amount of sleep per night, your diet will suffer. Make sure to hit the sack by 10pm each day, and aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night overall.

7. Reduce alcohol intake: Alcohol is linked with an increased risk of heart disease and several cancers. If you drink alcohol, choose lower-fat types or avoid it completely if your weight is already high enough as this will be most beneficial to your health.

8. Eat more fibre: Fibre-rich foods are important in helping you stay full so eating lots of them will aid with weight loss or maintenance efforts while also promoting good digestion, regularity and bowel health.
